Enoch
1/18/1992
There’s a story from the Bible, friends, that I am gonna tell
It’s ‘bout a man who walked with God and knew Him very well
So if you think God’s far away, then you’re in for a shock
Come learn a lesson from the life of a man who’s named Enoch
Chorus:
Enoch…Enoch…The man who walked with God
He was a lot like you and me—don’t think him very odd
In a wicked generation he was solid as a rock
Come learn a lesson from the life of a man who’s named Enoch
Now Enoch wasn’t special—just an ordinary Joe
He never wrote a single book or had a TV show
If you think that’s what matters, though, we need to have a talk
I bet you’ll learn a thing or two from simple ol’ Enoch
(chorus)
Now Enoch knew God loved him and that he could be His friend
He saw this world was fading fast, and coming to an end
And so he figured he and God should kinda have a talk
That was the first day of a life-long journey for Enoch
(chorus)
Enoch sought to know the Lord as he walked along the way
The more he learned the heart of God, the more he would obey
And so he made some choices that his neighbors often mocked
But wait until you find out what became of our Enoch
(chorus)
Enoch and The Lord grew closer each and ev’ry day
God couldn’t wait for him to die, so he plum took him away!
The last his fam’ly could recall, he’d gone out for a walk
And now he lives with God, forever, happily, Enoch!
(chorus)
Now Enoch is a shadow of the Bride that’s meant to be
But if she’s gonna be prepared, it starts with you and me
So open up your heart to God, and throw away the lock
And you’ll know what it’s like to walk with Him like ol’ Enoch
2nd Chorus:
Enoch…Enoch …The man who walked with God
He was a lot like you and me—don’t think him very odd
In a wicked generation he was solid as a rock
Come learn a lesson from the life of a man who’s named Enoch
Come learn a lesson from the life of a man who’s named Enoch
